The Coach and Horses win “Best Wine Pub” Award

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

Congratulations to Clerkenwell’s Coach and Horses for winning “Best Wine Pub” at the Harpers Drinking Out Excellence Awards 2010.

When Colette Webster and husband Giles bought the Coach and Horses in 2003 they were looking to host a good honest boozer with great food and a challenging and interesting wine list. 7 years later and they have won Harpers Wine and Spirits award for the Best Wine Pub at the Drinking Out Excellence Awards 2010.

Host Nigel Barden said “the Coach and Horses have won because the list is small, but perfectly formed, being full of reasonably priced and exciting gems from around the world. Collette Webster should feel justifiably proud of herself for putting together such a list.”

A complete novice to the world of wine Colette embraced her passion when the couple re-opened the Coach and Horses. Learning from books, tastings and industry shows and events, Collette has developed and created the award winning list.

Colette comments “we are delighted and pleased in particular for all our loyal wine drinking customers!”

The Coach and Horses were up against the Yew Tree in Gloucestershire and General Tarleton in North Yorkshire at the award ceremony hosted at the Soho House Hotel, London this week.

Contact Sarah Lewis or Nilam Jadav for more information on the Coach and Horses.

Complete Media Group delighted to be working with Bangalore Express and The Painted Heron

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

COMPLETE will be working with Bangalore Express EC3 on the launch of their new city venue.

Masterminded by Charles Hill and Yogesh Datta, creators of the award-winning The Painted Heron, Bangalore Express has an extensive menu which challenges the boundaries of Indian cooking. A contemporary take on traditional flavours and full of fresh, fragrant, wholesome dishes, the menu ranges from classic to contemporary with nods to India’s many distinct regional styles. It is split into categories such as tapas style dishes as well as more substantial dishes including oven roasted tandoori and dosa – Southern Indian rice and lentil crepes.

Situated in Corbet Court, opposite Leadenhall Market, Bangalore Express spans two floors. The ground floor has a lively bar - perfect for after-work drinks and bites - whereas the downstairs restaurant creates an intimate setting with booths and freestanding tables - suiting friends, couples and business groups alike. There is also a screened area which lends itself to larger parties of between 10 and 24 people.

With a full bar license and free wi-fi access, Bangalore Express is perfect for whiling away an hour with a pint or enjoying one of the many cocktails with friends after work - there is no obligation to eat, if you can resist!

LIWF reports record return visitors

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

The London International Wine Fair are delighted that they continued breaking records in 2009 - the number of visitors returning to ExCeL for more than one day. 5,562 visitors visited the Fair for two or more days, up three percent on the previous highest re-attendance figure, which was also set last year.

The London International Wine Fair and Distil has attracted the second highest visitor audience in the event’s 29 year history.

The net visitor figure of 13,893 individuals was seven percent below the extraordinary level achieved at the 2008 show, which had beaten the previous record high by nine percent.
James Murray, event director, commented: “Despite the best efforts of the UK recession, global economic collapse and the threat of swine flu, we’ve enjoyed excellent results. Distil, which welcomed 6,190 visitors over the three days, has strengthened its position as the dedicated spirits event to the trade and exhibitors throughout both events have been really positive about the future.”

The 2010 event will run from 18-20 May at ExCeL celebrating its 30th anniversary.
