The Real Food Festival and Borough Market hosted a fantastic Easter Market Day today; with make your own Easter egg sessions, chocolate making demonstrations and some very special guests.

This included hot new London Chocolatier Paul Wayne Gregory, one of the new stars in the chocolate world, known for his intense and original flavours. Other impressive chocolatiers who spent the sunny morning with Real Food Festival and Borough Market include Antonia Fraser from Ooh la la and Auberge du Chocolat, and Peckham Rye based chocolatier Melange. Although the most popular guest with the Market’s younger audience was from Real Food Festival regular The Sheep Show, and she came with two little lambs!

It was a busy morning for all the Real Food Festival stalls with visitors to the market loving the artisan bread, home made marmalade, delicious cheeses and of course the mouth-watering chocolate!

The search is now on to find the best tasting products from every corner of the world. The Great Taste Awards has been described as the ‘Oscars’ of the food world. Acknowledged by producers, retailers and consumers as the definitive independent benchmark for speciality food and drink, the Great Taste Awards helps smaller producers, who lack big promotional budgets, to gain wider distribution and increase sales. Winning foods carry the Awards distinctive logo and producers benefit from a month-long consumer promotion in hundreds of food halls, delis and farm shops.

Cruise line Voyages of Discovery were given a tour of the House With No Steps; an organisation which provides young, disabled people with accommodation, education, support and opportunities.

They then took part in some of the classes and workshops which took place. In return for their hospitality, residents of House With No Steps were invited onboard Discovery where they enjoyed the run of the ship and performed a highly skillful music and dance show for the enthralled passengers.

To round off a magical evening in style, Voyages of Discovery presented the charity with a cheque for US$50,000 to support the incredible work which House With No Steps does to help people with intellectual, physical, sensory and/or psychiatric disabilities make the most of their abilities.

Voyages of Discovery has been a supporter of the charity for many years, having now raised over US$150,000 for this worthwhile cause and its beneficiaries.

Foodie review website Qype played host to one of Angela Malik’s critically acclaimed Cookery Courses. Many Qype bloggers came along to Angela’s cookery school in Acton to learn how to cook with her pesto sauces and how to make Dim Sum.

The event was a great success. Many bloggers wrote about the cookery course including images and their thoughts on the dishes. “This cookery school was a revelation”, “When it came to preparing and cooking our own dim sum and gyoza, instructions were clear, guidance plentiful and the results…sublime”.

Angela has many classes available with something for everyone - no matter their level of cookery skills. Classes include: Indian express cooking, Butchery and knife skills with Asian style cooking, Create the perfect Indian dinner, Thai food made easy, Brilliant cocktails and canapés, A taste of Morocco and Indian food for confident cooks. Also available will be smaller classes to give more individual attention as well as some great children’s cookery classes.
