Rieker recently won Best Ladies Brand at the IFRA (Independent Footwear Retailers Association) awards last week.

Rieker has now won the award for an unprecedented 6th time in as many years and was also runner-up in the Best Men’s Brand and Customer Service categories.

The awards took place at the MODA exhibition at the Hilton Metropole Hotel, Birmingham NEC on Sunday 15th February.

Brintex has just announced that this year’s London International Wine Fair Top 100 tasting will be selected by The Wine Gang (www.thewinegang.com). The Top 100, now in its fifth year, provides visitors to the LIWF with the opportunity to taste some of the world’s best wines in specific categories.

Wines will be chosen at different price-points, representing both the Old and New World, all selected on the basis of overall quality, consistency and value for money. Specifically, this year’s tasting will focus on wines which reveal the true essence of each country, with many of the top 100 wines made from indigenous varieties.

The Wine Gang was set up in 2008 by a team of the world’s most respected wine experts: Tim Atkin MW, Tom Cannavan, Anthony Rose, Joanna Simon and Olly Smith. Its unique service provides subscribers with access to a unique, no-holds-barred assessment of over 200 wines per month for a small fee. The LIWF Top 100 will be selected from wines given a score of 85% or more by The Wine Gang.

Will Broadfoot, marketing director for the London International Wine Fair, commented: “We are delighted to be working with The Wine Gang on the 2009 Top 100. When we decided to focus this year’s tasting on indigenous grape varieties, we knew that the judges selecting the wines would have a particularly tough challenge. The Top 100 tasting will be located at the east end of the South Hall, ExCel, London, throughout the 2009 LIWF, which takes place from 12th to 14th May 2009.

Searcys scoop a handful of awards at Coolest Venue 08 competition

Complete Media Group’s foodie client Searcys scooped a handful of awards at last night’s Coolest Venue Awards. Hosted by Prestige Events, the event was held at Il Bottaccio.

Searcys’ 40/30, the restaurant and bar at the top of the gherkin, won the top award - the ‘All Round Coolest Venue in the UK’. “In the current economic climate, the pressure on an event organiser is even more apparent” says Wesley Mendy from Prestige Events. “Every corporate event organiser strives to ensure their next event is THE hot ticket.”`

Searcys also won the Coolest Outdoor Venue in the UK with the Hurlingham Club.
