Brintex has just announced that this year’s London International Wine Fair Top 100 tasting will be selected by The Wine Gang (www.thewinegang.com). The Top 100, now in its fifth year, provides visitors to the LIWF with the opportunity to taste some of the world’s best wines in specific categories.
Wines will be chosen at different price-points, representing both the Old and New World, all selected on the basis of overall quality, consistency and value for money. Specifically, this year’s tasting will focus on wines which reveal the true essence of each country, with many of the top 100 wines made from indigenous varieties.
The Wine Gang was set up in 2008 by a team of the world’s most respected wine experts: Tim Atkin MW, Tom Cannavan, Anthony Rose, Joanna Simon and Olly Smith. Its unique service provides subscribers with access to a unique, no-holds-barred assessment of over 200 wines per month for a small fee. The LIWF Top 100 will be selected from wines given a score of 85% or more by The Wine Gang.
Will Broadfoot, marketing director for the London International Wine Fair, commented: “We are delighted to be working with The Wine Gang on the 2009 Top 100. When we decided to focus this year’s tasting on indigenous grape varieties, we knew that the judges selecting the wines would have a particularly tough challenge. The Wine Gang’s experience made them the obvious choice, and I know that visitors to the Fair will really enjoy taking the time to sample this remarkable collection.”
The Top 100 tasting will be located at the east end of the South Hall, ExCel, London, throughout the 2009 LIWF, which takes place from 12th to 14th May 2009.
